Hey, I’m Hilary. Born in Toronto and raised in Edmonton, I’m someone who approaches graphic design with a stubborn sense of curiosity. My work lives at the intersection of storytelling, culture and visual identity. I am always asking: how do we design with people, not just for them?
Design, to me, is listening. It’s empathy. It’s faith that if we show up with purpose and an open mind, we can figure things out together. Design exists in that liminal space where art, communication, and lived experience meet. I approach design as both an empathetic and strategic discipline. Being a part of that process is something I am endlessly grateful for. How lucky am I to create and participate in the way we see the world? Integrity in my practice isn't just important to me, it’s the backbone of everything I make and it gives me pride as a designer.
I hold a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication with a Marketing minor from the University of Alberta. I’m also the co-founder and creative director of Circe Magazine, a non-profit print publication and events platform that celebrates emerging creatives. We host galleries, concerts, and parties that get the art kids out of their studios and into a room together.
When I’m not being absorbed into the imaginary cloud or figuring out an overnight update, I’m probably spending time in nature, snowboarding, painting, or passed out at a questionable hour with my two cats, Blair and Lana. Yes, all my storage is taken up by cat photos.
